BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais have firmed up somewhat, and sales up to 39 per cent premium are reported. The market closes with sellers at 400 per cent. prentiam. Nationals have improved to $28, at which there are buyers.

MARINE INSURANCES. There are 110 changes to report under this head.

Chinas continue in demand at Tls. 180. bat H. & K. Wharf & G.. are unobtainable.

FIRE INSURANCES.-There is no busines: to report in this departiment. China Fires aro to be had at $85.

SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have once more come into favour, and the rate has improved to $36, at which there are buyers. Indos have declined to $151, there being small sellers at the rate. China-Manilas are changed. Douglases continue on offer at $56. China Mutuals are unaltered at previous quota tions. Star Ferries (old) have been placed at $24, and more shares are wanted. Shell Trans- ports are unchanged at quotation.

REFINERIES.-China Sugars have declined to $144, and shares can be had at the rate, Luzons have sellers at $36.

MINING. The only change of importance is in Raubs, which have advanced to $13 buyers. Other stocks under this head are not materially changed.

DOCKS, WHARVES AND GODOWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Docks have been in fair request at rates ranging between $305 and $315, but at the close there are a few sellers in the market at $310. Hongkong and Kowloon Wharves have been dis osed of at $1023, and more shares are obtainable. New Amoy Docks have improved to $23, with buyers,

LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS.-Hong- kong Lands, after sales at $202 and $201, have declined to $200, at which shares are obtainable. Kowloon Lands are on offer at $30. West Points are in the market at $54. Hongkong Hotels are wanted at $130. Humphreys Estates are procurable at $134.

COTTON MILLS.-No changes to report. except in Hongkong Cottons, which are wanted at the advanced rate of $103.

MISCELLANEOUS.-Green Island Cements are wanted at $194. China Borneos are on offer at $38. A. S. Watsons are wanted at $153. Hongkong and China Gas Co.'s shares are enquired for at $130 ex dividend. Ices have improved to $1841, at which sales have been effected. Tramways are in demand at $260. United Asbestos have been sold at $11. Watkins are wanted at $104. China Providents have been sold and more are obtain- able at $9.85.

Indo-China S, N, Co.-Rates continue firm and cash shares sold up to Tls, 112, while settlements were made for 31st inst. at Tls. 112 to 113, for August at 114, for September 115 and 107 (ex div.), for October at 115 and January, 1902, at 121. Shell Transport and Trading Co. shares are offer- ing. SUGARS.-Peraks changed hands at Tls, 76 and 77.50 for cash and are offering. A September settlement was made at Tls. 80. MINING. Kaiping Mining shares sold up to Tls, 280 cash and aro in request. Raub Mining shares sold at $12.50 locally and are wanted. Docks, WHARVES & GODOWNS.-8. C. Farnham, Boyd and Co., Ld. The first report and statement of accounts, to 30th April last, will be presented by the directora at the meeting of shareholders called. for 5th instant. The net profits, after paying all charges and writing off the greater portion of the deficit of the late Shanghai Engineering and Dock Co., Ld., are as follows:-Head office Tls. 1,133,286.58, branch office Tla. 154, 27.15, or Tls. 1,287,313.74 in all. After allowing for the interim dividend of 7 per cent, paid in January last, which absorbed Tla. 221,900, there is a sum of Tls. 1,065,413.74 available for distribution, out of which the directors recommend payment of a dividend of 21 per cent., which will absorb Tls. 1,014,300 and the carrying forward of the balance of Tls. 51,118.74 to new account. Shares were placed at up to Tla. 302,50 cash, but the market closes quiet with sellers at Tls. 300 to 295.
