After the result of the sale was known a smart rise took place. A fair quanti- ty of Patna changed hands at $942)/945. O. Ben- ares was dealt in sparingly at $9571/965. At the close a quiet feeling prevailed and rates are quoted nominally, Patna 940 and 0. Benares 957.

Mr. P. Eduljee says in his Report, dated Hongkong, 10th. A quiet but study business has been done throughout the past fortnight at or about late rates, and at the close the; demand has subsided, but both buyers and sellers appear satisfied to work on present basis.

No. 6s.-Have continued steady with light stocks.

No. 88. Continue quiet and very little doing. No. 108.-Show the continuance of the usual large demand and very some irregularity in price. No. 128.-Demand has greatly subsided, only some favourite chops being dealt in small lots at slight decline.

No. 16s. -Have continued steady with moderate enquiry for special spinnings..

No. 2's. -Have been largely dealt in; best spinnings receiving most attention. Prices are maintained, but here and there & trifling gain in values in noticeable over last mail quotations. Stocks of desirable favourite spinnings are almost exhausted, and more than half of the 4,085 bales noted below are for May-June delivery.

The local Mill has ceased running entirely, and out of the few bales remaining in stock about 400 bales No. 128., have been sold at $35..

Japanese Yarns have ruled steady, and about 200 bales No. 208. Settsu spot cargo have found ready buyers at $101 to $111. In addition to the above, sales of about 800 bales Nos. 168, and 20s. are reported, on the basis of $104 for Kanegafuchi and $16 for Sakai No. 16s, and $107 to $108 for Settan, $107) for Ashai, and $107 for Kanegafuchis and Shensu No. 20., all four to six weeks', Celivery.

Raw Cotton-Indian descriptions show a fur- ther falling off and a forced sale of about 90 bales superfine Bengal $18) is reported. Total busi- ness of the fortnight amounts to about 700 bales Bengal, at from $181 to $20, 50 bales Dacca at $21, and 200 bales Thoongchow, at from $22} to $281. Unsold stock 10,000 bales Indian and 300 bale China Cotton. Quotations are Indian $16 to $21 and China $22 to $23).

BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais have been dealt in at $390 per cent. premium, and the market closes steady at this rate. The London quotation is advanced to £63. Nationals are unchanged, and without business.

MARINE INSURANCES.—Unions have been placed at $320, and the demand for shares con- tinues at $325. China traders are wanted at $58. Cantons have been sold and have further buyers at $175.

FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkong Fires have been sold at $360; and more shares are wanted. China Fires, after sales at 888 and $87), are quiet at the lower rate.

SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have been dealt in to a large extent at $35, and more shares are to be had at the figure. Indo- Chinas after advancing rapidly to 8141 are somewhat easier with sellers at $140. China Manilas (old) are on offer at $67 and the new shares are wanted at $54. Star Ferries (old) have been sold at $24) and the new shares at $10, with further lots of the latter obtainable at quotation. Shell Transports and China Mutuals are unchanged.

REFINERIES.-Chin Sugars are on offer ut $135, and Luzons at $38.

MINING.-The feature of the week has been the phenomenal fall in the value of Raubs from -- Bombay-Nos. 10 to 208......... $76.00 to $109.00 | $36 to $24, at the lower of which rate there are English-Nos. 16 to 24,.

DOCKS, WHArves and GoDOWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Docks have bee in good request during the interval, and after sales at $305 rose rapidly to $315, at which further shares can be placed. A sale is reported late to-day at $317 cash, and a further item on time at $330 for August. Hongkong and Kowloon Wharves have been done at $101} and $102, and close with buyers at t higher rate. Wanchais are wanted at $63, sud Kow Amoy Dooks at $22).

LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS. -Hong- kong Lands have been sold at $200 and $799, but close weaker with sellers at $198. Points have been placed at $54 and 855 and close with buyers at $55), -Hongkong Hotels have continued in demand, and have further buyers at $128. Humphreys Estates are wanted at $14. Oriente Hotels are to be had at $80.

COTTON MILLS.-Sales of Ewos are reported at Tls. 50. Other Northern stocks under this heading are unchanged. Hongkong Cottons have come into request again at $71.

MISCELLANEOUS.-Green Jaland Cements have been sold at $191 to $201 and close with buyers at $20. Chins Borneos have been sold at $38. A. 8. Watson & Co.'s are wanted at 817.
