VERNON & SMYTH'S SHARE REPORT. HONGKONG, 19th April-The activity in demand reported in our 1st has continued during the week under review, and a good general business has been transacted in most stocks at advancing rates.

BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais hava been placed in moderate quantities at rates ranging up to 370 per cent preminm for cash, and more shares are wanted. The Loudo rate has advanced to £60 5. Nationals ar! wanted at $27.
MARINE INSURANCES.-Unions have chang ed hands at $239, $282 and $235, and the demand continues. Buyers are now willing to pay $200. China Traders have been sold at $57 and close with buyers at $374. Yangtszes are wanted at $135. Cantons have been sold at $160 and are now in demand at $105.
FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkong Fires cou. tinue in request, and the rate has been raised to $325. China Fires are wanted at 8841.
SHIPPING.-Hongkong, Canton and Macaos ara apparantly aftricting some attention, and after sales at $33 and 833 have further buyers at $34. Indo-Chinas. have continuel in demand and sales at rapidly rising rats up to $128. have been effected, the market closing with further buyers at the figure. Chia, Manilas, old, have been placed at 363, and more are wanted. The new shares have been sold at $391 to $41 and there are further buyers at the latter figure. Douglases have been sold at $49 to $52, but the market has since weak- ened, and $5 is now the best rate obtainable. Star Ferries are in demand at $24 and $9 for the old and new shares respectively. Shells are obtainable at £3.

REFINERIES.-Chin Sugars have improved their position, and have buyers at $135. | Luzons are unchanged at $38.
MINING-Panjoms have eased off and are obtainable at $51. Jelebus have buyers at $5. Raubs after sales at $38 are a shade firmer at $39 with probable buyers. Olivers "A" are in the market at $11. The "B" shares have been placed at $14.
DOCKS, WHARVES AND GODOWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Docks have continued in demand and have been placed for cash, and the end of the month at varions rates up to $280, at which the market closes with further buyers. For August fair sales have been male at $295. Hongkong and Kowloon Wharves have been placed at $103, at which further parcels could probably be obtained. Wanchais have been sold at $63. New Amoy Docks are wanted at $221.
