VERNON & SMYTH'S SHARE REPORT HONGKONG, 25th January-The market continues active and a good business has been have ruled strong and in some important cases transacted during the week. Rates generally show large advances.
BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais have been neglected, with sellers and no sales at quotation, and at rather less than equivalent rates forward. Nationals unchanged with a small business at quotation.
MARINE INSURANCES.-China Traders havé found buyers at $55 and $56, closing steady at $55. Unions and Cantous have changed hands at quotations and close with further buyers. Yangtazes after sales at $120 are enquired for at $115 without finding sellers.
FIRE INSURANCES.-Both Hongkongs and China Fires have been on the market, at $315 and 884 respectively, with only small sales of the former.

SHIPPING. Hongkong, Canton and Macaos have ruled very firm at $354 after sales at $34) and $35. Rumours of an exceptionally good report and a dividend and bonus of $1.50 are responsible for the rise. Market closes steady at $35. Indos have improved to $105 atter large sales at 8101 to $104 for cash and at equivalent rate on time, chiefly for March and April. Douglases have been placed at $47 but close with a few small sellers at $46. China Manilas at $73 and $73 for old issue, China Mutuals unchanged and without business.
MINING.-Punjoms have declined to $3 with business, but close with buyers at 834, sellers now holding for $33. Jelebus hive found buyers at quotation. Olivers "B" have been in a small demand and a few have changed hands at $1 and later at $1.10. Ranbs continue quiet without business.
DOCKS, WHARVES and GodowNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Docks have boomed con- siderably with sales at from 500 to 610 per cent. premium cash and at higher than equivalent rates for March and April; market closes strong at quotation. Kowloon Wharves remain quiet with small cellers at $89. Wanchais are enquired for at $624, but no shares are forth- coming.
LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS.-Hong- kong Lands have recovered last week's drop and after fair sales at $200 and later at $203, are now steady at 8200 ex div., with fair sales for ward at equivalent rates. Hotels have been enquired for and could be placed at 8124; very few shares, however, are obtainable. West Points have changed hands at $51, and Hum- phreys at $14, and sellers at quotation.
COTTON MILLS.-No business to report under this heading.
MISCELLANEOUS.-Green Islands have been placed at $20 cash and at $20 for March deli. vory. Watsons at $15.75 and $16.- - China Providents at 891. A
