HONGKONG, 9th November. The volume of business transacted during the period under re- view is about the same as that of the preceding fortnight. From Saigon to Hongkong, 13 centa per picul nominal; to Java 30 cents per picul is obtainable for December loading; to Cebu a steamer has been closed at 40 cents per picul, which fills present requirements in this direction. The quarantine at Saigon against this port has been removed. Bangkok to Hongkong, 35 and 30 cents per picul is offered. Newchwang to Canton, 40 cents per picul for ready steamer. Java to Hongkong, 32 cents per picul for dry and 40 cents per picul for wet sugar. Coal freights are firm. Moji to this, $3; to Singapore, $3.25 per ton. Sailing vessels.-A ship has been chartered to load here for New York on the basis of about 228. per ton.
