At the offices of the Public Works Depart- ment on the 30th ult. Mr. G. J. W. King offered for sale by auction three lots of land. Two lots situate in" Queen's road West brought forth no bids but Building lot No. 104, situate in Mount Gough Road, was purchased for Mr. B. N. Nisaean for $580, $20 above the upset. The annual rental is $64 and the contents in square feet 11,200.

At the Magistracy on the 2nd inst. a China. man carrying on business at 80, Praya Central, was charged on remand with selling adulterated 24 28 12 14 78 whisky. Mr. Reece appeared for him. Inspector Duncan took a sample of the whisky on the 10th ult. and divided it into three parts, one being sent to Mr. F. Browne, Government analyst. Mr. Browne's certificate was produced but Mr. Reece asked that Mr. Browne should be salled the Ordinanca entitling him to make the request if he thought fit. At the Magistracy on the 2nd inst. Chi On, a postman (No.31) employed at the Post Office, was charged with stealing a parcel of letters stamped with six $1 stamps. The Head Messenger said that shortly after seven o'clock that morning Postman No. 55 told him that the parcel of letters produced was missing. He went round the office to look for it, but could not find it. He then saw the defendant holding the letter bag produced in the left hand and a bundle of letters in the other. He saw something bulging out in the bag, and on opening the bag found the missing bundle. He reported the matter to one of the clerks, and a detective was called in and took the defen dant into custody. Postman 55 said that at about seven o'clock that morning he took in a parcel of letters with six $1 stamps on. put the parcel on a table and turned round to cancel stamps and immediately afterwards missed the parcel. He reported the matter to the Head Messenger and saw the parcel taken out of the defendant's bag. His Worship asked what was the value of the parcel, and Mr. Lewis (Acting Postmaster) replied: The value of the 190 stamps ig $6. I do not know the value of the 190 correspondence inside. THE BELILIOS CUP. The conditions for the Belilios Cup competi- tion are that the two best scores (including handicap points) to count as winner. Gunner Lapalsy is therefore the fortunate possessor of the Cup with a score of 194 out of a possible 210. Sergeant-Drummer Brown comes second with 198, and first in the nett score. The Return of Cases of Disease in the Colony during the 28th April shows that flere were 33 plague (81 in Victeria) and 28 deaths; of diphtheria and one death (Portuguese) 3 cases of enteric fever and one death. The plague record up to noon of the 3rd fast, from the beginning of the year is 124 cases and 108 deaths.

Early on Thursday morning the police at Kow, loon were informed by telephone from the Police Station at Kowloon City, that at 11 o'clock the previous evening an armed robbery took place

An arms case which aroused some interest 183 came before Mr. Hallifax at the Magistracy on 182 the 27th ult. When stopped by the police the man produced a license issued under the old Ordinance No. 8, of 1895, the license having been issued on the 10th instant and expiring on the 10th May. Under the old Ordinance it was ruled by Mr. T. Sercombe Smith that by virtue of such a license a dealer could remove Arms from one place to another in the colony without getting any permit.
