The CHAIRMAN said-Goutlemen, I will with your permission adopt the usual course and take the report and statements of accounts as rend. The accounts speak for themselves, and I do not think require any additional explanation from me Our year's work, I am sorry to say, has not been marked by good fortune, and up to the present time, though prospecting has been steadily going on, we have as yet had nothing very encouraging reported to us. The latest report from the mine is tained in a telegram from our mining man. ager received a few days ago, which reads thus: "It the 400 feet level hire driven 265 feet. The winze has been sunk 70 feet; there is no improvement. We are driving south level 200 feet. The average width of lode, which is 3 feet 6 inches, assays 5 dwts, per ton. The face improves as we go on It is my intention push on in this love! as possible." It appears by this that our most promising level at present is the 200 feet south, and in a lotter received this morning from Mr. Roberts speaking of this level, be says: "Tho meu taken from the winze bare been set to work extending this level, which is the only part of the mine in which we can find any formation that presents au eucouraging pro- spect. The work corrosp nds in a moisure with that which we started in the Eureks eight or nine months ago, and it is to be hoped that it will be attended with the same satisfactory

Stocks of wines, &c., provisions, household and in the last teiogram we are informed that the face improves as they go on. They are evidently on gold, so we may at any time hear of more favourable developments. It appears, gentlemen that the only course we can pursue is to keep steadily on and hope for the best, and I can assure you we hase every confidence that our managers in Australia will do all in their power to arrive at satisfactory results.
