JOINT STOCK SHARES. HONGKONG 26th January-A fair amount of business has been trausacted during the week under review, rates ruling from steady to strong | in most stocks. The Hongkong and Shanghai Bank advertises its general half-yearly meet ing for 17th February, transfer books closing from 3rd February to 17th February inclusive. BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais bave raied very quiet with only very small sales during the early pa t of the week at 343 per cent. prem., and later at 340 per cent. Marke closes quiet at 339 per cent. Nationals hare Insurance- further declined to $25 without sales.
MARINE INSURANCES With the exception of a few small sales of Unions and Traders at quotations and a small demand for Yungtszes at 115 there is no business to report
FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkong Fires con- tinue steady with sales at $332 and 3335, hina Fires are euquired for at $8 without finding sellers.

SHIPPING.-Hongkong. Canton and Macaos have ruled quiet with some small sales at $311. $314 and $1, market closing steady at $31. Indes have changed hands at $89, but sellers rule the market at time of closing; on time a few parcels were placed at 894 and $95 for June. Dongluses remain unchanged and without busi- ness, China Mutuals continue ou demand with no shares obtainable. China Mauilas are still obtainable at quotation with no business to report.
REFINERIES.-China Sugars have been tran- sucted at $115 and more could be placed at the rate. Luzons continue unchanged and without business.
MINING. Punjoms have changed hands at $5.70 to $5.90 for cash, closing with further smalls ellers at quotation. Charbonnages con- tinae steady with further small sales. Oliver B's have ruled quiet with small sales at $6, 85.90 and close at $5.75. Jelebus have been in de- mand but only a small business has resulted at $121, 8123 and $134. market closing firm at $131. Queens and Great Easterus are neglected at quotation. Raubs have ruled rather firmer with sales and buyers at $62.
DOCKS, WHARves, and GodoWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Docks continue quiet at $5374 and no sales to report. Kowloon Wharves have also ruled weak, but with a fair business at $8 for cash and $85 for March, market closing steady at $84. Amoy Docks continue on offer, but there is no business to report. Wanchais could be placed at quotation, but none seem available.
LANDS, HOTELS AND BUILDINGS.-Hong. kong Lands changed hands during the early part of the week at $116 and $117 cum div. and later at $114) ex div. Hotels bave ruled quiet but steady at quotation with a small business. West Points which have been in some demand during the week have advanced with sales to $40 cum div., after sales at $37, 838 and $39, market closing steady at $39 er div. Hump hreys have found further buyers at 19 and $9.75. Kowloon Lands at $28.
COTTONS. With the exception of sales of Hongkongs at $40 there is nothing to report, Quotations for the Northern mills are taken from latest Shanghai circulars.
MISCELLANEOUS.-Green Islands have chan- ged hands at 29, Electrics at 10 and 10 in large lots, closing with buyers. Ices at $ 35 and $140 in small lots. Watsons at $16 and China Provi. dents at $9.25.
