Mr. HART BUOK ssconded, Carried
The Chairman intimated that amongst the gentlemen who served as stewards during the| ast year, the Hon. J. J. Bell-Irving and Mr. O. F. Harton were absent from the Colony, and Lieut-Colonel The O'Gorman was retiring. The names of Mr. Keswick, Major Morris, RA, and Mr. J. H. Lewis had been recom. mended to fill the vacancies.
Mr. JAS MOKIE proposed that the old ste- wards and Hon. J. J. Keswick, Major Morris, R.A., and J. H. Lewis, to fill the vacancies, be elected.
Mr. Rutter seconded.
Mr. Murray Bain nominated Mr. Hart Buck as one of the stewards. He referred to Mr. Hart Buck's knowledge and experience of racing, to the services he had rendered as Aoting Clerk of the course during Mr. Hough's absence, and said he thought if elected Mr. Hart Buck would make a very valuable addition to the list of stewards.
Mr. W. D. GEAHAM Seconded.
The CHAIRMAN said it would be better to follow their usual course and ballot for the stewards.
Messrs McKie and Cruickshank were ap- *pointed scrutineers.
The following gentlemen were_elected as Stewards:—Sis Thomas Jackson, Hon. C. P. Chater C.M G., Hon. F. H, May, C.M.G., Hon. T. H. Whitehead Hon. J. J. Keswick, Messrs. D. Gillies, R. M. Gray, M. Grote, and J. H. Lewis, and Major Morris, R.A,
The CHAIRMAN said it had been suggested that the distance for the Champions Race should be reduced from a mile and a-half to a mile and a-quarter. The Champions in Shang- hai and every other course in the North was a mile and a-quarter. It was thought this would conduce to larger fields not only in the Cham pions but also in the other races. The stewart would be pleased to hear the opinion any gen- tleman present on the matter.
No observations were offered on the suggər- tion.
This concluded the proceedings.

It was the opinion of the Committee that representatives should be annually elected and and also that any local team (not otherwise represented on the Committee) entering for the | Competition should be entitled to have a repre- sentative on the Committee, also that the Navy should be entitled 'to have two representatives. It had been found that Naval teams up North desired amongst other things to be better in- formed as to the details of the Competition.
