The Echo de Chine is in a furious passion with thi N. Cả Daily News over the latter's comments on the Dreyfus case. As to French injustice, imino other country, says the Shanghai French organ, would the sense of justice have been strong enough to secure a new trial in such a onse. Our contemporary says that it was itself in favour of revision, but now that a second trial had taken place it maintains that the verdict should be accepted. What, it asks, would Eng land have thought if the Frenob press had taken up the Maybrick case in the spirit in which the English press has taken up the Dreyfus case ?

Green Tea.-No news of importance has been re- ceived from the consuming markets. Pingeueys. -Most of the settlements reported were made before the departure" of last mail. Demand re- mains slack, but Teamen are not willing to give way in prices to meet buyers' views, Country Teas.-There is very little change to report in these descriptions. Choice Moyunes and Tien- kais are slow of sale. Mounes and Tienkais up to Tis. 25/26 are in good request at about pre- vions prices. Fychows are strong at Tls. 19 224. Local packs are neglected.
Hysons.-Teas from Tls. 20 at 25 are down to the lowest point of last year. From Tls. 26 at 81 good Moyunes and Teenkais are obtainable, which in some cases show a difference of Tls, 7 af 14 from prices once refused for them. Taels 60 has been paid for a few "choice” Teas, but Tesmen find it difficult to get over Tis. 88 for anything. The stock is estimated at about 26,00 -chests, and it is said that most of the orders for Batoum are already executed. Shipments of Green Tea to London are still much below the
average, though there has been more disposition to ship to that market lately...

SILK.
CANTON, 16th September.-Silk.-Teatlees.-- No settlements are reported. Re-reels.About 100 bales of Nos. 1 & 2 Grant have been sold at $776/760. Filature. The inereused demand mentioned in our last issue has not been main- tained. Fine sizes in Best No. 2 chops are still in good demand, but coares sizes, especially in lower grades, are almost entirely neglected. Prices of good chops show no weakness so far, but on lower grades, coarse sizes, small conces- sions are obtainable. Very high prices are being paid for 5th crop oocoons. Estimates of the 6th crop's yield differ considerable; we do not think it will exceed 9/10,000 bales. Short-reala.-Good chops have been in little enquiry, though Good No. 8 14/16 and 14/18 are eagerly sought after, are obtainable. Waste.-93 have but none been paid for Extra. Dealers are asking $95, but the market closes quiet and there are no buyers as this price.
