FIRE INSURANCES.-Hongkongs have been placed at $320 and Chinas at $88), the former- closing with buyers and the latter with sellers.
SHIPPING Hongkong, Canton and Mucos continue quiet with sellers at $31,75 and only small sales at: $32.: Indo-Chinas: with anuuns satisfied demand at $68 were suddenly jumped to 870, and a few hundred shares changed hands at that rate, market closing with buyers at $704. Donglases have declined to $59 with sales, but close with buyers at 852, the earnings for the six months ended June 30th amount to $96,000; the management propose writing 8 per cent off value of steamers and placing balance to reserve: -China Manilas and China Mutuals unchanged and without business.

Murray & Co.'s Price Goods Trade Report:)lected with very small sales at quotation, The business during t! e week has been very small Luzona quiet with small sales. and the sales reported almost nothing. There has been, it is true, some enquiry for some of the better maks of English go da, but the continued drop in Exchange has rendered it more impossible than ever for importers to accept the prices offered, while the sellers position is rendered all the more difficult by the continued rise in rates in the English and American markets. The Nor. thern dealers are to all intents and purposes ont of the market at the moment, and it is somewhat peculiar to note that during the past week some two thousand bales American Sheetings and three thousand b les American Drilla were sold by the Tien sin dealers to the Newchwang dealers. The political uneasiness around Peking my pccount: for this unlooked for movement of the Tientsin dealers, but one can hardly believed that po litics ever enter into the calenlations of the hart headed Northerners and it is more than likely that the motive of the whole transaction was the realisation of a very handsome' profit. The week's business as far as we can learn has been almost confined to Printed Gods in which a good business has been done and in executing the contracts sellers have been much benefited by the favourable terms of shipment granted. Several orders are in the market for Dyed Goods, ut the distant delivery naked for by indentors has ren deed business impossible. There is no nws of any importance from the various outports, although e curances to the different markets con- tinne very satisfnotor l'he Yarn market is still booming and a further advance has been established during the week, notwithstanding the heavy arrirala that are shortly due from India. Local Cotton has been forced np to an extreme level owing to the fear that some buyers have that the coming crop will be much curtailed owing
to the recent unfavourable weather. Recent advices from Indra report that the price of Raw Cotton has considerah y advanced of late.
