CHINA OVERLAND TRADE REPORT.
SHANGHAI, B1st August.-(From Messrs. J. P. Risset & Co.'s Report).—The market was buoyant during the week, and we note an advance in Honkong and Shanghai Bank, Indo-China, Wharf, Langkat, and other shares. Banks.- Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation · Lands, Hotels, and Buildings.-Hong. The market hus been execdigly strong in kong Lands with a steady onquiry have been Hongkong, largely on account of Chinese buyers, dealt in to some extent at from $99 to 8110, but not much business was done here on account market closing quieter with probable sellers of the absence of sellers. A casu sale was made at 8107 Hotels with an unsatisfied demanding more was reported until the 8th. when on the 25th at 83 per cent. premium, and not`-- gradually rose to $116, at which. after sales at shares was sold to Hongkong at 343 per cent $114 and $115, a few shares changed hands; at time of writing shares are still enquired for at $116 and at equivalent rates forward. West Points have improved to $35 ex div. after fair males at $324, §33, $334, and $34. Humphreys Estates have ruled quieter with sales and sellers at $11 and $113.
COTTON MILLS.-No business to report. MISCELLANEOU8.-Star Ferries have been negotiated at $161, Green Islands at $284 and $28 Watsons at $17, Electrics at $124 and $18 and $131. Ices at $124, $125, $127, and 8128 cash, and at $130 for November, and China Providents at $9,75. The market generally closes steady to strong.
