Wharf shares, and a decline in Hongkong and Shangbai Bank and Cotton Mill shares. Banks.-Hongkong and Shangbui Bạuk- ing Corporation.-Cash shares were sold locally at 265 5 per cen1‚-premium, and to Hongkung aɩ 2651 and 266 per cent, premium. A sle for Angust was made at 2684 per cent. premium: Marine Insurance.—The North-China Insurance Co. paid an interim dividend of 5 per cent, on the 20th at exchange 2/81. We quote the shares Tls. 180 er div. Straits Insurance sh res are wanted a $4. Fire Insurance.-China- changed bands at $82. Ship; ing.-Indo-China S. N. Co shares were pu chased from Hongkong at $68 for the 80th current, and $71 for 81st July. We quote Tls. 50 as the closing c-ħ rate. Sugars.— Perak Sugar Cultivation shares were placed at Tis. 48 for September cun div., and at Tla. 471⁄2 cash er div. Docks, Wharvis and Oowns.- Bhures in S. C Farnham & Co. have cauged bands at Tis. 180 and Tis. 152) cash. Shanghai Dock Preference shaies were placed at 11. 101, and are offering. and Or inary shares were Fold at Ts. 95 for 31st August. Shanghai and Hongkew What shares have been in strong demand, and business was done at 'Ils 15162 cash, Tls. 162 and Tis. 165 for the 80th, Tis. 160 for June Tls. 160/170 for Ju y and Tis. 1571/1724 for August, closing strong. Lands. Shanghai Land Investment shares chang- ed hands at 1-, 82, Industrial.- Cotton Mills.~ The Chairman of the International Co. issued a circular to shareholders informing them of certain serious omissions in the statement of account pass- ed on the 22nd November, and promising a new account. This bad a depressing, effect on all these stocks. E-wo shures were parted with at Tls. 65, at which rate tl ey are in demand. Inter- nationals were sold for June at Ils. 71, Laou- Kung-Mows at Tis 82 for September, and Soy Checs at Tls. 359. Shanghai Eis shares changed hands at Tls. 82. Shanghai Ice shares were sold. and are wanted, at Tls. 29. Shangbai Festher Cleaning shares are offering. Jugs and Carge Boats. Shanghai Tug Boat shares were placed at Tls. 230 and Co-operative Cargo Boat shares at Tls. 135. Miscellaneous.-Shanghai-Sumatra Tobacco shares were placed at Tis. 61,62 cash and Tle. 65 for 31st August. Shau hai-Langkat Tobacco Old shares changed hands at Tls, 80. The fourth and final call for Tis. 25 on the New shares is due on the 20th May. Shares in J. Llewellyn & Co. were placed at $60 and $61. Hail and Holtz, Ld.-Shares w re placed at $34. Loans. From Saigon to Hongkong, the demand during the past week, has been very light. Only two steamers having been chartered at 20 cents per picu, at the close there is a stronger tone, the rate being firm a 20 cen ́s per picul; to Manila, there has been a good demand for so all carriers, the rate ranging from 43 cents to 38 cents per picul at which figures the last >ettlement was flected

From Newchwang to Canton there is an enquiry for tonnaget 32 cents per picul.

Two sailors are reported chartered one for Falti- d and the other for New York ; the fixtures were effected in New York and rates are being kept private. The British barque Kenyon 1.178 tons lent for Talcalm no, Chili. în ballast under orders from owner. Failing tonnage is wanted to load tim- ter at both Singapore and Kajung for this port.
