On Sunday, on board H.M.S. Tamar, Rear | EXPORT OF TEA FROM CHINA TO`ODESSA Admiral Holland, before the assembled ship's company, after a short but appropriate speech, presented Wm. Hutchings, Lg Sea, aud Corporal Jas. Goldring, R.M.L.I., with the Royal Humane Society's testimonial on vellum for saving life under the following circumstances. About five o'clock on the morning of 7th Octo. ber last a Marine named Albt. T. Steele fell overboard from the Tweed and struck the ship's side in falling, which rendered him unconscious. The sentry on watch at once threw a life buoy and cried out, Mun overboard." Hutchings and Goldring, who were both asleep in their hammocks, were awakened by this ory, at once rushed on deck, and jumped overboard just in time to save the man, who was sinking for the last time. A strong tide was running, which carried them a hundred yards from the ship, but they succeeded in keeping Steele afloat until picked up by the ship's cutter.

There bave heen orders on the market for New Season's R-réels No. 1 Grant at £645 According to New York cables some No. 1 Re-reels have been sold at 620 for shipment June/September, but we could not uscertain to what extent these sales amounted. Filatures. Have been in good de- | mand, but business has been very limited owin to the Chinese New Year holidays and the scarcity of Silk. Prices advanced $80/40 per picul espe cially Best grades finest and fine sizes. Short- reels have been in go››d enquiry, ani prices show also an advance of $20/30 per picul. Waste- About 1,000 bales of Steam Waste Extra and 50). bales of Market Extra have been settled at hardening prices.
Mr. A. G. Ward gave another organ recital at St. John's Cathedral on 27th Feb. Owing to other attractions there was not a very large congregation, but those who were present had a rich treat.
