CANTON 29th December.-Owing to the holi- days and the dulnees pervading the home markets generally, the fortnight has been exceptionally uneventful Tastlees-Are nominally unchanged with nothing doing. Re-reels.-A purchase of 60 bales Nos. 1, 2, 3 was made in the fortnight at $485 average. Filatures.-Business has been very limited and prices show some weakness all round. Front prices paid-we quote: $620 for Kwong Shun Cheong 11/13, $595 for Kai Sun Cheong 13/15, $590 for Kum King Lan 9/11, $500 for Yes Woo Cheong 18/23, $500/492) for King Wo Cheong 18/22 $515/510 for Hing Lun and Yee Wo Lun 11/13. On the whole dealers show little inclina: tion to sell. The enquiry for America has been very
slack. Waste. Nothing doing. Prices slightly weaker. Stocks:-Tsatlee, 800 bales; Fiature, 2,800 bales.

Baw Silk No change has occurred in the position, of this market, since date of my last e roular. Bettlements are insignificant and advices from. every quarter are most discouraging. Arrivals, na ver Customs Returns 17th to 22nd December, 453 bales White, 88 piculs Yellow, and 175 piculs Wild Silk. The Export of Steam Filatures to date is: To London 2 bales, to Continent 1,270 hales, and to America 1,142 bales. Waste Silk. No transactions of consequence.

HONGKONG, 30th December.-Bengal.-There has not been much change in prices during the past week. The first importation of New Patna of the season 1895: 1896 arrived during the interval and after sales at $710 is now quoted at $7074. Old Patna closes at $7021, New Benares at $690 and Old Benares at $7.15.
