The most serious mishap occurred to a stone junk, which was capsized in the anchorage. There were sixteen occupants and nine of them are missing, and it is feared that they were drowned.
We are requested by the committee of the Al Fresco Fête of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to state that the proceeds of the Fête held on the 17th November last amount to about $2,000. The committee desire to publicly acknow- ledge their appreciation of the generous support accorded to the Society by the community, both foreign and Chinese. The treasurer requests that those gentlemen who have not yet paid for the tickets sent to them will kindly do so as soon as possible.
