The murder on a fishing boat near Green Island a few days ago turns out to be a sequel to a series of conflicts between various clans and not the outcome of piracy as was at first thought. It is true that piracy was committed, but the primary object of the attack was murder. In March last the conflicting parties met near Lamma Island and had a serious fight and four persons were killed, and in June there was an- other battle between them. The next time they met was on 26th August, when two men were injured in an affray near Pokfulam and they EXPORT OF TEA FROM JAPAN TO UNITED were treated at the Government Civil Hospital. Then the attack near Green Island followed, culminating in the murder of one of the fisher- men. The police are experiencing great diffi. culty in getting evidence, first of all one story and then another being given. The two men- who have been arrested in connection with the murder near Green Island were brought up at the Police Court on Monday and remanded until to-day.
