FIRE INSURANCES-Hongkongs continue to rule weak at $200 and an offer of two poin less would doubtless bring out shares. China have further improved to 387}, after snaļi maipa mt $96 to $87.

SHIPPING-Hongkong, Canton, and. Muonge have materialy improved their position and sales have been effected at $31. $32, $32), $33, and $34; at time of writing a few shares are obtainable at $33. Indo-Chinas have experienced quite boom consequent on the declaration of a 16). dividend. In the early part of the week under review some small parcels changed hands at $45 and $46, and later ät $47, $48, $49, $50, $51, and 851). A sale has also been reported at $52. A good many shares have changed hands, chiefy at rates between $49 and $52, and market closes decidedly firm at $51. Douglas's have ruled in demand and a fair number of shares have been placed at $50 and $504, market closing with buyers at latter rate. Cking Mutuals have been enquired for and offers of £8 for Preference and £2 10s. for 23 paid-up Ordinary have failed to tempt holders to part.

REFINERIES-China Sugars have continued to rule weak, and althongh shares are not actual- ly offering some holders give out that an offer of $105 would lead to business. Luzons.---Two small parcels changed hands at $43 and $45 în the early part of the week. More shares could probably be obtained at $45, but there appear to be no more buyers at the moment.
