JOINT STOCK SHARES. HONGKONG, 2nd April.-Rates have ruled firm during the week under review, the chikf feature in the market being a further rise in -Hongkong and Shanghai Banks. Market closes

steady and firm all round.

BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais-In sympathy with further rises in London the rate here has gradually risen from 174 per cent. prem, as reported in our last to 185 per cent. prom. With a fair number of sales at those and intermediate rates, market closes steady at $185. Nationals have found further buyers at $21.

Bisset & Co.'s report.)-Banks.-Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation.-Shares changed hands for cash at 160, 165, 170 and 172) per cont. premium, and for 31st July delivery at 170, per cont. The Hongkong market rose to 175 per cent. Premium, but has since declined to 172 per cent. National Bank of China.—Shares have been placed, from Hongkong, at $21. Shipping.-Indo-China S. N. shares have been placed at Tls. 294, Tim. 30 and Tis. 811 for cash, and for 30th April at Tls. 30. Taku Tug and Lighter shares are wanted at T. Tls. 60}. Hongkong, Canton & Macao Steamboat shares have been sold to Hongkong at $30, and locally at $81 and $82. There are shares offering at the higher rate. Docks.
