AUSTRALIAN STAR OUT OF

DAVIS CUP TEAM BECAUSE OF MISBEHAVIOUR

Melbourne, Dec. 12. President of the Australion Lawn Tennis Association, Norman Strange, confirmed tonight that Bob Hewitt has been excluded from the Australian Davis Cup team to meet Italy in the challenge round because of his misbehaviour during the recent Victorian Championships.

Hewitt had been reported by a match umpire for his "tantrums." Victorio Lawn Tennis Association

Robert Vroland president

later officially reprimanded Hewitt ond warned him that any repetition probably would mean suspension. Tonight Strange said that because the incident occurred after Hewitt had been named as o member of the Australian Davis Cup "probable" squad, the selectors sought the advice of the LTAA Council as to whether Hewitt would be acceptable if selected. The Council replied that Hewitt should not be considered for selection. UPI.
