Boe

on the Hongkong Exchange this week was the strongest in many months. Gains were extensive and the volume of business of about $31,610,000 was double that of the week before.

The Public Utilities stood out in a market that saw attention focussed on all sections.

Both Light and Electrics went from strength to strength, closing yesterday at their prices for the week.

For the second week running, Lights were transacted at alightly better prices than Elec- tries, a reversal of the normal pattern.

Other gainers included Trams, Telephones and Kowloon Motor Bury.

Buyers also showed interest in Allied Investors, pushing the price up to $9.90 at the close This was the best percentage rise (seven percent) for week of all the stocks the China Mail list.

Tuesday: The market was rather irregular in the morning with a slightly easier tendency.

Immediately after the opening of the afternoon session the trend reversed and the tempo the rose at the close. The interest shown on was widely spread and most see- tions came in for a fair share of business. Humphreys closed at $26, Lands at $72%, while Docks were done steadily at $123. Turnover
