CENES reminiscent of

other civil wars were witnessed at the Kowloon Canton Railway station and river boat wharves in the Colony yesterday. Trulus and river boats reported that an abnormal number of passengers, the majority of whom carried their entire belongings, have fled to Hongkong during the past 48 hours. An even grester exodus from Canton is ex- pected today,

Thousands of inhabitants, fearing the impending storm, are fleeing to safety. A Canton report says that · the number of residents leaving for Hongkong has increased. Since Wednes- day morning the first and noon express going to Hong- kong from Canton left with two coaches added to the first and second classes. Likewise steamers are doing a good business.
