born in private zoo
Wellingborough, Nov. 30. A polar bear cub was barn at a private zoo park bere yesterday.
The cub, aboul the size of a three quarters grown cut. was discovered by keeper Charles Humphrey when he went to clean out the pen occupied by Blondie, the six-year-old mother.
The father, Anuk, also six years old, was purchased by the zoo about a year ago as a mate for Blondie,
Mother and cub are both doing well,
The zoo's owner, Mr H. J. Sievens, said there were "great hopes" of rearing the cub, which was worth several hundred pounds. He believed it was the first polar bear cub ever born in a private collection,-China Mall Special.
