Surprise Olympic Games disclosure
YACHTING MAY BE ONE
OF SPORTS TO BE EXCLUDED IN 1964

A threat that yachting might be one of the sports excluded from the 1964 Olympic Games at Tokyo was disclosed by the Japanese delegate to the Permanent Committee of the International Yacht- ing Racing Union in London today, Mr Yukiaki Iwata, a member of the Japanese Olympic Committee, said that his country had been making pre- parations to stage all 22 sports in the 1964 games.
But unofficially his committe? { find been told that the Olympic sports might be limited to a maximum of 18 or 20, and that yachting might be one of four or ve sports to be cut out.
