WEEKEND RUGBY
Police win easily
though playing below their best
By 'PROP'
It is a constant source of amazement to me that week after week one sees on the rugger fields in the Colony instances of the basic principles of the game being ignored.
When William Webb Ellis first picked up the ball and ran with it, instead of kicking it, he probably did not realise the extent to which his gospel would be spread. The game, s0
evolved, has spread, however, and today it is not a haphazard scramble but an organised sport.
Further unconverted tries came from Lloyd and Calder- wood, the latter after R run by Roberis from

Wild passing
A1 Boundary Streel en Shtor- day conditions were perfect for fast open rugger. The sun shone, the ball and the ground were dry, and there really was little excuse for the amount of mis- handling which we saw. Wild passing and "finger-lip" catching ali spelt disaster for both sides but Police were quicker to take advantage.
The game opened with series of fost raids by the Police with Roberts featuring pro- minently, but somehow or other the Warwick Regiment held their ling intact, mainly due to sound work by their full-bacit Humfrey.
