Harrogate, July 13.
A 15-year-old boy who made a telephone call to his pen-friend in Colorado, in the United States, at a cost to himself of three- pence the price of local call, was put on probation for a year in the magistrate's court here.

The boy was accused of ab- talning 23 credit-the cost of a three-minute trans-Allamile call
by false pretences.
A police witness said that on May 29, the boy asked a house- wife here if he could use her telephone as he had an urgent call to MoR lo Leeds and a nearby kiosk was occupied.
The woman let him use the telephons and a few minutes later he told her he could not get through and that the ex- change would call him back.
PAID MONEY
About 10 minutes later, the telephone rang and the boy went to it and spoke about three minutes. She heard him say at the tall-end of the con- versation: "i am serry to have. got you up. It is only 23 minutes to midday here."
He paid her threepence, the cost of a call to Leeds, but be cause of what she heard him say, she had doubts and made in- quiries.

post office was contacted, and the bby was truced.
It was found that the call had

Prince Philip has found a sport which will take him away from it all-diving with an aqualung. To date he has not been to any great depth. He has been practising in the Palace swimming pool, and it is only eight feet deep.
He has become quite skilful at removing his mask under water, putting it on again and filling it. out with compressed air.
He has also been practising escape routines, removing the harness quickly, and doing for ward and backward rolls under
water.
