Trans-Atlantic Sailing Boat Race Planned
London, Nov. 26,
An international single. handed sailing boat race across the Atlantic from England to New York is being planned by British and American yachtsmen, it was announced. here today.
The race will start from the south coast of England on June 11 and will finish off Sheepshead Boy in the approaches to New York about a month later.
Mr Francis Chichester, ken- porary secretary of the group organising the race, sald today that it is open to boats of any nationality, size or type provided that they are propelled by wind alone and manned by one per- son only.
