FOURTH INNING RUN

GIVES THEM 1-0 WIN OVER DODGERS

Los Angeles, Oct. 6. The Chicago White Sox scored a fourth inning run today and made it stand up all the way to keep their World ..Series hopes alive with a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers before an all-time record crowd of 92,706. It was a spectacular ball game before the biggest crowd ever to see a Series game and Bob Shaw, with relief help from Billy Pierce and big Dick Donovan, was credited with the shutout.

Shaw hurled brilliant ball until the eighth inning when it looked as though the never-say-die Dodgers were going to pull another one out of the fire.

Shaw had been hurling on the edge he gained in the fourth inning when Nellie Fox singled, went to third on Jim Landis' single and scored as Sherman Lollar hit inta u double play.

That turned out to be enough, but the White Sox hopes looked back in the eighth inning when Landis lost Wally Moon's line drive to contre field and it fell in front of him for a single.

It was one of the most tumultuous innings in Series history, and it sent the Serien back back to Chicago for the sixth game on Thursday.—UPI.
