THE QUEEN has appointed Giles, the famous cartoonist, to the Order of the British Empire.
Giles was far too shy to say anything about it himself. But what do other famous artists think of him? I know the answers because I have dis- cussed Giles with them on many occa- sions.
First, royal por trait painter Pietro Annigoni. What does he think of Giles?
He admires him so much that he asked to meet him when he was in London re- cently.
HAVE just had my first driving lesson in a
flying saucer-the new hovercraft.
I sat at the controls, feeling Hike on earthy Jeft Hawke. Dozens of lights and dials filckered. But they are only for testing purposes.
In 20 years the family hover- car (or its equivalent) will have only a throttle, we foot pedals, and two lovers,

James Gunn: think Giles has given more pleasure and added more gaiety to the nation than any other cartoonist."
Sir William Cold- stream, Slade Pro- fessor of Fine Art: "I enjoy Giles's work and admire his draughtsmanship im- mensely."
These are just a few tributes to add to the many which were paid to Giles from all over the world.
Let's hope that this month will be the happiest he's ever known in return for all the happiness he's given us
