Melbourne, June 15. Australia's Olympic swimming champions Murray Rose and Jon Henricks, now studying at American universities, have had the way opened to them for selection in the Australian team to go to Rome for the Olympic Games. next year, the Age swimming correspondent said today.
Moves at the half-yearly conference of the Aus- tralian Swimming Union in Melbourne at the weekend had done this, he said.
The stumbling block had been Union rules that all swimmers sceklag Games selection must teke part in trials impiediately before selection, he and

swimmers who dropped below their selection standards during Anal trials in Townsville, North Queenland, should be dropped tran the Anat team.
This meant that Henricks and Rose could misa the national utles in February, be chosen in the preliminary team and re- tur to Australia in time for training and trials at Townsville during their University vaca-

It would then be up to Hen- ricks and Rose to show sufficient frm to retain their places.
The Union decided that two coaches should be employed to superise the team's preliminary training at Townsville,
