An underground sea about three times the size of Ceylon and an old water course believed to be a former bed of the Yangtze River have been found in east China, it was reported.
Professors and students of the. geology department of Nanking University Ciscovered the sea which stretches over on area of 77,222 square miles, mostly below Kiangsu Province and also parts of Anbwel and Honan"puu- vinces.

The British Government to-
day announced details of £400,000,000 five-year-

plan to improve the no- tion's school education.
Main feature of the scheme, outlined in a government report. is a continuous school building programme
and between 1000 1905.
This will match up with men. sures already in hand to bring more and better teachers inta the schools by building more training colleges and lengthening tre teachers training course from two to three yeaED.

It is also proposed to step up the number of teachers gained! from the universities.
The government considers these steps will bring a big improvement in the standard of school work particularly secondary modern schools - and that this in turn will enable local authorities to provide a better pattern of opportunity for all children.
