When Vladimir "The Sailor" Kuts announced his retirement

this month, Russia not only lost its greatest track star. It lost a fine sportsman as well-a sportsman who was different from the unsmiling, sport-is-a-war type of Soviet athlete, Stomach ulcers have side-lined double Olympic champion Vladimir Kuts for good, a recent Moscow announcement said.
