Decline of Cricket In New Zealand HANDICAPS FOR

COUNCIL TO DISCUSS HOW TO RAISE STANDARD

By GRAEME BARROW

(Reuter's Correspondent)

Wellington.

The New Zealund Cricket Council meets this month to discuss how the

poor standard of cricket in the Dominion can be raised.

It will have before it a report of a sub-committee which investigated

the playing and financing of the game.

New Zealand cricket began going steadily downhill after the excellent

tour of England in 1949, when New Zealand lost only one match.
