Man of Music

Bert Gillett has been playing the piano since he was six and the organ since he was twelve. He studied the organ until he was twenty-one and added to this a five year apprenticeship to the technical side of the plano trade.

In 1925 he gave his first broadcast from the BBC of the piano, and during the war he served as an Entertain- ments Officer in the Nations! Fire Service. On May 27. 1949, Bert Gillett came to Hongkong to manage.one of the largest retail music establishments and only two days later on May 29 Re made his first

broadcast from Radio Hongkong from the Gloucester Building.

Bert was an original member of the Acas Concert Party, is!

well, remembered for his playing at many a Charity show, for his weekly service as organist of St Theresa's Church, Kowloon, but perhaps best of all for his well liked "Box 200' which Radio Hongkong has featured since June 1, 1949.

Hongkong is now losing Bert to Sydney where he is going!

to take up a new position General Sales Manager with the largest musical organisation in Australia.
