Week-End Lawn Bowls
NEVER HAD CCC SUFFERED SUCH CRUSHING DEFEATS
AS ON SATURDAY
By ROBERT TAY
Craigengower Cricket Club, last year's first division and second division lawn bowls League champions will long remember Saturday, June 28, for never perhaps in the lawn bowls history of the, Club, had its bowlers suffored such crushing defeats as they did on that day.
In one afternoon they suffered three 5-0 thrashings, two of them on their own green and at the end of a black Saturday had to thank their Senior Ladies' "B" team for preventing them from being completely blanked out in their four scheduled week-end matches.

Seme dramatic fluctuations took place after tea.
Impressive Start
The three Craigengower fours nude an impressive begiming in the after-ted session by chalking up a four, a three and a single and on the very first hend after ten took e Three-shot lead on the
gregate.
All the three Valley Club rinks put up some ne bowls at this stage. After twelve heads alto- gether had been played after tea. The Indians' deficit in the aggre- gude had increased 10 seven shots. George Hong Choy's four! were haw leading A. M. Omar's four by 20-17. Sünley Leonard's i four wel level with A. K. Mino's four #1 14-14 und Coales and his men enjoyed a good 18- 14 had over U. A. Rumjahu aftre having trailed behind C11 14 hends.
With a total number of only wine heads to go, Craigengewer were still up on the aggregate by tine shots and leading on three rinks.
Dramatic Change
all
Then come the most dramatie change in form and fortune of the whole stel. A. K. Minu trailed the Juck about a yard for two. U. A. Rumjahn followed with a two and A. M. Omr reeled off a four after his No. 3 Rahman had trailed the jack for three.
On the next head. A. K. Minu took a twe, U. A. Rumjahn three and A. M. Omur another three. In just a matter of six hendy, the Indians scored 16 shots against their opponents', zero mid from being nine down'
on the aggregate were nów seven
up.
A. K. Minu sealed the match by tuking
a four on the second laut head and the In- dians collected the maximum points mainly by their spectacu- lar finishing on the last six heads but two of the game.
Among the winners highest praise goes to A, R. A. Rahman and D. M. Omar in A. M. Omar'a rink, stlp A. K. Minu and M. B. Hassan, and K. M. Rumjahn in U. A. Rumjohn's rink.
Splendid Game
on
For the losers, George Hong Choy played a splendid' game throughout the whole afternoon but was unlucky to be up that day against a particularly brillent opposing No. 2 and No. 3 combination of B. M. Omar and A. R. A. Rahman. Skip Leonard but up another herole fight but found A. K. Minu well at top form.

A triumvirate of three selectors, all professionals, a four-year team building plan and a spirit of adventure are the assets English football must acquire to put up a better show in the 1962 World Cup in Chile than it did in Sweden.
