In another bitter attack on Hongkong over Britain's stand in the textiles dispute, the Barnodswick Conservative Club, Yorkshire, today sent a letter to the Prime Minister protesting that the British "working man and woman is at a loss to understand the Government's policy -- which is nothing more or less to rob them of their livelihood at the expense of Hongkong and Pakistan.”
In the letter to Mr Harold Macmillan, the Club referred to the Colony as being "of no value to us in this prosent age, either commeretally or strategically."
Copies of the letter, signed by the Club chainman, Mr Alan Proctor, cotton manufacturer, and the secretary, Mr J. Ellis; a weaver affected by short-time working, have been sent to 300 Conservative clubs in the north, of England.
