of a big farm in

America is awaiting a poor farm boy from the Elles- mere district, Shropshire.

Shropshire-born Mr George Foulkes of Hari- ford, Michigan, walked into the British embassy in Washington recently and said he wanted to give one of his seven forms to a poor farm boy from Ellesmere, Shropshire, where Mr Foulkes was born in a workhouse 84 years ago.

Mr Foulkes has stipulated' that the boy must. be prepared to go to America and live on the form which, the embassy says, is in one of the most fer- tile areas of the US.

Mr Foulkes' early life was a very hard struggle, hut after about 25 he was successful, and became a senior employee of the US Treasury and then a mem- ber of Congress.

Now a rich man, he owns about 6,000 acres in the Red River valley.—China Mail Special.
