Tigers Tamed Temperamental Tung Wah In Yesterday's First Division Match

By I. M. MacTAVISH

It would have boon difficult to convince a casual visitor to the Club Stadium, yesterday afternoon that Sing Tao wero engaged in what was really a life and death struggle as far as their First Division existence was concerned.

In the end they defeated Tung Wah comfortably by 4 goals to 2 but they made. very heavy weather of it all. Tung Wah started in likely enough fashion, but as time wore on and the opposition grew tougher they faded badly. Some of their second half stuff was indescribably poor. Tung With suffered from the aliment which I suggested some months ago might assail them when they built a hocus pocus side by pulling a few big names in a small name tcom.

While they were still in the game with a chance they played hard enough, but it was mos! noticeable that as soon as they the big name'

Eght minutes later the Tung Wah rear rankers did a sort of after you Claude' act among themselves... but Lo Kwok- tai scorned the mannerly dis- play and smacked the ball into the net from right under several Tung Wah noses.

The scoresheet read Slag Tao 2. Tung Wal ....at the inter- val.

The second half was as yawn- able as any football we've had to watch recently and in the first 15 minutes the only things that stuck in my mind were a couple of impetuous and crafty indis- cretions by Lo Keng-chuen which would have earned him a severe consure had they not been commited behind the referee's back.

Keen Spectators

It might Interest the Tiger to know that neliher of his efforts escaped the notlee of keen spectators in the grandstands.

In the 65th minute the Tung Wah boys fell further behind and again their defence was at fault. They allowed Lee Tak- tung to amble us the left wing with the ball and while they stood in silent admiration of his fine centre Yeung Wal-to coolly. hondert the bill into the net.

That was really the end of the game as a serious contest but a few minutes later Tsang Kenk-kong, tho Sing Tão in- side right, swung the ball goal- wards from the right touch- linc. There was a glorious mix-up and before all and sun- dry had straightened them- selves out the ball was in the net. I was told afterwards that, in spite of the fact that. there were at least eight play- ers in the vicinity, none except the goalkeeper's back actually touched the ball before it cross- ed the line!!
