Wallabies Snatch 10-8 Victory Over Leinster

A Far From Impressive Win

Dublin, Nov, 27.

A converted try three minutes from the end enabled the Australian Wallabies touring Rugby Union side to snatch a 10-8 victory over Leinster, Irish Provincial XV, here today.

The Australians were far from Impressive until near The end. Their forwards took a hammering in the scrums and line-outs, but much of the good work by the Irish pack went astray through too much kick- ing by G. Hurdy, the Leinster wing half.

A Heavy Toll

Deadly Irish tackling and covering took a heavy toll of the Australian short passing game for most of The match, but in the end the heavy and very fit Wallaby forwards got on top, giving the Australian bucks a chance at last to show their true form.

With Leinster defending desperately for the last Tew minutes, M. Meadows, the Australian hooker, burst over for a try which A. Harvey converted.

In the first half, Connolly landed a penalty gual for Leinster and Hardy scored a try which Connolly eonverted. 6. Bailey crossed for a Wallaby try which Harvey converted.--China Mail Special.

Peter Waterman And His Conqueror Are Anxious To Meet A Fourth Time

By ARCHIE QUICK

For a man with three burning ambitions, Peter Waterman, Britain's Welterweight Boxing Champion, finds himself in a tantalising post- tion. He has his sights set on Marconi's European title, Barnes': Empire crown and Joe Brown's world championship. Those schemes disappeared in the London mists temporarily, at least when he was unexpectedly outpointed by Trinidad's tough-as-teak Boswell St. Louis.

With his defeat went Waterman's £500 side stake, and a complete upset of Peter's":

plans to meet George Barnes, of Australia, in the New Year. For Boswell at Louls also happens to be a contender for that British Empire Championship. The contretemps may be ironed out by a return fight between St. Louis and Waterman.
