BLESSING IN DISGUISE FOR THE ARMY TEAM
Says ARCHIE QUICK
Enforced changes were a blessing in disguise for the Army representative soccer eleven in their annual match with Aston Villa at Villa Park recently. The Army made seven alterations from programme. Outside left Cliff Jones was with the Welsh team to play the International against England at Cardiff, Bill Curry was leading the England "Under 23" team against Rumania at Wembley. addition to these two stars of Swansea and Newcastle, Billy Charlton (Manchester United) was reserve for the "Under 23s," Don Whelan (Blackburn Rovers), George Spiers (Reading) and Joe Melia (Liverpool) were all injured, and Brian Harris was playing a League match for Everton against Arsenal,

As I understand the basic rules.of the game, the referce should have awarded, a penally kick to South China soon as the pileged illegal hand- ling of the ball by on Army player took place; or if for same strange reason he allowed that offence to pass unpunished, then he should have awarded a free- kick to the Army when Wong Chi-keung handled the ball,
Incidentally
the pictorial evidence shows all too clearly that the South China winger did in fact punch the ball while bying on the ground.
