THE TIGERS' TAILS WERE WELL AND FA

There Should Be A Four-Up, Four-Down System For Next Season

Says ARCHIE QUICK

Will the Football League learn a lesson from the new Third Division rules? The 12-stay-up, 12-go-down dogfights which are going on in both Sections may not make for better foot- ball, but they are certainly resulting in bigger "gates."

How much the public interest has been whetted by the struggles to avoid the 13th places and lower was the other week-end when the League showit altendances in all Divisions was 873,571. This was

increase

of 17.162 upon the corresponding Saturday of last season, and of that increase a jump of 16,711 was recorded in the two Third Division Sections.

South African Wins British Empire Flyweight Title

Holder Knocked Out In Third

Glasgow, Oct. 2a.

Dennis Adams, 22-year-old South African, won the British Empire Flyweight boxing title here to night when he knocked out the holder, Frankie Jones of Scotland, in the third round,

Jones, who won the title only this summer, failed to rise from his fourth knock-down and was counted out while Adams, bloody-nosed but triumphant, danceð á þig of joy.

No Defence

Jones had put his opponent down within fifteen. seconds of the first bell, but then showed no defonce whatever against powerful left and right swings.

Adams had to take one pound off at the weigh- in and he did this by less than half an hour.

The South African weighed 112 pounds and his 24-year-old opponent scaled 111 pounds eight ounces.

It was Jones first defeat of a short professional career and ironically his 13th contest.—Reuter.

After their victory over Kitchee on Sunday I gave it as my opinion that the Tigers were still a long way short of a championship side. This overwhelming defeat indicates clearly just how far short it is. The official scoresheet which shows KMB the winners by seven goals to four tells only half the story for the Busmen were so superior in every phase of the game that it was only Wai Fat-kim's frequent mistakes that kept the opposition in with even the slimmest of chances.
