INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY URGED NEW YORK COTTON

Important For Continued Australian Industrial Expansion Says Council

By TERENCE DOWNEY

Canberra, Sept. 25.

A Ministry of Labour Advisory Council is trying to persuado Australian industrialists, both primary and secondary, to streamline production methods and increase productivity. Australia's prosperity and expansion since World War II has taken the edge off the desire of managements to achieve higher productivity, the Council believes. But, it adds, higher productivity is important to continued expansion.

The Council is a committee two-thirds of the national of top businessmen, facturers,

primary

manu-

producers end labour leaders, set up to Australian Govern- advise "Uie ment on employment, industrini relations, employée welfare and related industrial and economic mutters.
