The fatest Leslie McDowall Plan has hit football with a resound. ing thwack. The Manchester City Manager is now well known as one of football's original thinkers, but football players and fans are now wondering whether the latest M plan is going to be a good thing or a bad thing for the game. It is now a matter of soccer history that Mr McDowall, the former Sun- derland and Manchester City half-back, revolutionised football think- ing a few years ago when he put a No' shirt on Don Revie and made him really the first of the deep centre-forwards in British football. The Revie Plan paid off. Manchester City reached the Cup Final in 1955 and unfortunately lost to Newcastle United chiefly through an injury to right-back Jimmy Meadows.
