The Thai Ambassa- dor, Mr Pote Sarasin, newly-appointed Secretary-General of the Southeast Asia Treaty Organisation (Seato), today credited the eight- nation pact with having done much to foster stability in the Far East.
Mr Sarasin spoke at ceremony at the Thai Em- bassy at which he was his formally notified of selection as first Secretary- General of Seato, created three years ago to help stem Communist expansion in that part of the world.
