Protestant Churches 'in Hongkong are seeking world-wide assistance to help solve the Colony's refugee problems.

Church leaders here have asked The World Council of Churches at Geneva to "mobilise Church opinion in many countries" to facilitate the move- ment and, reception of Chinese refugees.

The request was one of several which the Executive Secretary of the Hongkong Protestant Central Relief Council submitted to "the World Council of Churches which held its annual meet- ing at Eastbourne. United Kingdom, from May 31 to June 5 this year.

About 150 delegates and their staff, representing 85 Countries, chiefly from Europe, attended the annual meeting.

Apart from Hongkong's dally needs for the poor and sick, Mr S. Y. Lee, Hongkong's Executive Secretary, pleaded for more financial assistance for the relief of the

The Hongkong Council also requested that Churches in the West help explore ways and means for developing industries and self-help schemes as well as possible outlets and markets for their products.

Mr Lee said this morning that these were among the requests Hongkong had submitted for assistance...
