LATIN AMERICA FEARS ECM Smart Rallying

Existing Adverse

Trends May Be Given New Impetus

New York, May 22.

The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America has expressed the fear that the European Common Market might give "new" and vigorous impetus" to an already existing trend adversely affecting Latin American food and raw material exports.

In a special report prepared for its session opening at La Paz, the Commission referred in particular to West Germany's participation in the ECM.

"An

accelerated diversion from Latin America to Africa of Imports by Germany and other participating countries, would also depend on the scale of pro- ductive and social investments that are channelled towards the associated territories," the re- port said.
