The 89-year-old Suez Canal Company today presented to the world a new $287,000,000 Suez improvement programme which it said it would. have begun next year if Egypt had not seized the international waterway last July.
The programme, outgrowth of a year-long study of present and anticipated needs, was turned over to the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr Dag Hammarskjold, "as a matter of courtesy" by Mr Claude Boillot, US representative of the company which had operated the Canal before the Fgyptian expropriation.
