"AMONU MY BOUVENIRS,"

As a tribute to Arturo Toscanini, the great Italian conductor who died this week at the age of 89, Radio Hongkong is presenting in the Sunday Concert, at 9.15 p.m., two great works in which Toscanini conducts the NBC Symphony Orchestra.hrvest Moon; Mexicali Itose; Emply These are Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 in E Flat ("Erolea") and Respighi's "Feste Romane".

Toscanini was born in 1867 and studied at the Conservatories of Parma and Milan, his principal subject being the 'cello. At the age of 19 he con- ducted an entire opera from memory, and for the first time revealed to the public his exceptional in- sight as interpreter and his magnetic control of a vast body of performers.

He later revived many half-forgotten works, performed in every European country, and in New York formed his own National Broadcasting Company Orchestra. For a long time Toscanini refused to make records, but those that have been made give some idea of his art and versatility, which from all standpoints will remain one of the most extraordinary musical phenomena of this or any age,
