Well, Melbourne has done it—and done it good! Perhaps never in its modern history has a city entered into a Games with so many reasons why, and so many chances for, it being a flop.
For at least two and a half years organisation of the Games was torn to pieces by local petty jealousies; then when it did get going its -million building programme looked hopeless as strikes, disputes and stoppages blew the schedule apart. But Melbourne, obviously a city made up of crazy peopl., said they could still stage the Games and were not even worried by the ruins and bleak winds of the final lap.
