Jury Told To Return Not Less Than Manslaughter Verdict
Mr Justice T. J. Gould, Senior Puisne Judge, at the Criminal Ses- sions this morning gave a 45-minute summing-up to the Jury in the trial of Ple Raymond Frederick Shepherd, 27, of the Army Catering Corps, charged with the murder of his wife.
The Jury of six men and a woman retired to consider their verdict
at 10.45.
Shepherd, who hails from Nottingham City, is alleged to have strangled his wife, Irene May, in their room, No. 309 Melbourne Apart- ments, on July 31.

The trial of Quik Bah-chec, 30-year-old Singapore Chinese, charged with the murder of Mr Arthur John Clifford, well-known barrister, began before Mr Justice J. R. Gregg at the Criminal Sessions this morning,
Mr Alistair Blair-Kerr, Solicitor-General, who prosecuted, told a jury of six men and one woman that there was no question in a case of murder of there being any preméditation required, and much less was it a necessity for the Crown to prove motive.
